Hearing God's Voice
I’m often asked, How I’m Able to Hear God’s Voice? This use to be foreign to me before I ministry became a part of my life.
I always refer to Romans 10:17, NKJV which states “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
I’ve listed several steps below that helped me hear GOD’s voice and confidently receive confirmation from HIM!
- When I began my journey in Ministry, I would pray all day (literally) and take time to read, study, and talk to GOD morning, noon, and night. Being in the presence of GOD became a lifestyle for me. This was key to growing my FAITH and having the ability to hear GOD clearly. Just like any other relationship, it would be difficult to earn trust, loyalty, and communicate effectively if you’re never spending time with that person. You can’t expect to build a great relationship, trust, communication etc with GOD if you barely spend time with him. So make it a priority to spend time with GOD.
- Most times, it’s very easy to get distracted from hearing GOD when you have everyone else in your ear. When GOD gave me the vision for Faithful Chics, I knew I needed to be led by HIM with every detail of this ministry. Therefore, I made the decision to keep the vision to myself! Telling everyone would have allowed opinions, fears, input, etc to enter my mind and that’s the last thing I needed. I built quietly behind the scenes, fasted, prayed, and confided in GOD and GOD alone for over a year. Therefore, when I needed confirmation on something and I received a sign, I KNEW it was from GOD! It’s ok to get advice from family and friends from time to time but when you’re truly trying to hear from GOD, I would advise you to block your ear gates from EVERYONE else!
- Finally, this may sound like the craziest thing but hearing from GOD is calm. He doesn’t scream at you. Confirmation for me at least, is never loud. It’s that small still voice that speaks to me. He brings forth confirmation at the most inopportune times. It’s always quiet and peaceful.
I can’t assure you that consistently hearing GOD’s voice will come overnight. It may, and it may not. It took me awhile to be confidant in hearing HIS voice. My best advice to you is don’t beat yourself up. Just take the steps above and apply them to your life. Don’t get frustrated with the process. Just commit to it. You’ll get there! Oh and last but not least, when I’m in need of confirmation on something rather big, I take at least a week off from social media. I often fast that week as well just to ensure I’m not distracted!
I pray this blog post helps you on your FAITH journey!
